  • Founders who need an honest, independent view of how their product and team are really doing
  • Businesses whose product is built by an agency or contractors and who can't tell if it's going well

  • Investors and acquirers who need technical due diligence on a target business
  • Teams considering a rebuild, a re-platform or a major architectural change
What's included2 weeks · fixed fee

An independent look at your product, code, team and roadmap. Clear recommendations you keep, whatever you do next.

  • Software architecture and technical strategy review
  • Engineering team and delivery assessment
  • Technical due diligence for investors and acquisitions
  • A prioritised 90-day plan

What gets reviewed

Architecture and infrastructure, code quality and test coverage, security and access, deployment and release process, cloud costs, the engineering team's structure and ways of working, and how well the technical roadmap supports the business plan. The scope is agreed up front so the two weeks go where they matter most.

What you get

A written report in plain English, with the evidence behind each finding, a clear list of risks ranked by severity, and a prioritised 90-day plan. There's a walkthrough session to go through it together, and it's written so it can be shared with a board or investors.

Technical due diligence

For fundraising, investment and acquisitions, the review can be shaped as technical due diligence: is the technology what it's described as, can it scale, where is the key-person risk, and what will it cost to fix what isn't right. It's the same rigour, framed for the decision in front of the investor.

What happens next

Many clients act on the plan with their own team. Others carry on with a Fractional CTO engagement or a Build Partner project shaped by what the review found. There's no obligation either way.

FAQ

Questions about Technical Review

How long does a Technical Review take?
Two weeks from kickoff to the written report and walkthrough. The timeline can stretch slightly if access to code, systems or people takes time to arrange.
How is a Technical Review priced?
It's a fixed fee agreed before we start, based on the size of the product and team - not a day rate that can creep. Book a free call to get a quote.
What access do you need?
Read access to source code and key systems (cloud console, CI/CD, issue tracker), plus time with the people who build and run the product. I'm happy to sign an NDA before seeing anything.
Can you review work done by an outsourced development agency?
Yes - that's one of the most common reasons founders ask for a review. It gives you an independent view of quality, cost and timeline that the agency can't give you about itself.
Can a Technical Review be used for investor due diligence?
Yes. The report can be framed as technical due diligence for fundraising, investment or acquisition, either for the company preparing to raise or for the investor assessing it.
